DOT DER question of the month:

What is a DER and what do they do?

A Designated Employer Representative (DER) is your key employee to administer and enforce your company’s company drug test program. The DER must be a company employee, they cannot be a contractor or service agent. They also are required to report some of the refusals to test to the Federal Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.

Learn more about a DER here.

Did you know hangovers aren’t limited to alcohol?

Marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine withdrawal and abuse of prescription medicine can all create similar effects of lethargy, nausea and foggy thinking. If you have employees who you suspect has a substance abuse problem, you do have options. One of those options is a referral to our Employee Assistance Program: Fully Effective Employees.

As an employer, you are required to do the 3-year pre-hire drug and alcohol background query before allowing a driver to drive or face a $1500 penalty. You will still need to have an employee consent form before doing your pre-hire query. Contact us if you have any questions.
