FAQs & Resources
Shared worker programs can be either union or non-union workers who by trade may temporarily work for one or more employers and want to maintain a central database of drug-free workers available for work projects without having to do multiple pre-hire tests.
Employers are able to view the database of available workers to see who can be safely dispatched to a jobsite.
Shared worker programs work best when there is a written management/labor policy in place that indicates who will be tested, what kinds of tests will be performed (i.e., pre-hire, random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty or follow-up testing) and what testing methodologies will be used to ensure the test is both fair to the employee and employer (i.e. SAMHSA certified lab testing, trained collectors with MRO review).
Random drug testing assures both employers and employees their workplace stays safe by maintaining a drug and alcohol free workforce.
Unannounced random tests can be done at the worksite to minimize employee time away from the worksite. Random selections can be made either monthly or quarterly and includes all available workers in the program.
